The sand filter is one of the most widely used filtration systems. Easy to use, it is highly recommended for beginners and for pools with high bather loads. Distributed by a diffuser, the water flows downwards through a bed of sand specially graded for filtration. This sand meets precise specifications and effectively traps impurities. The water is collected at the bottom by strainers and returns to the pool via the valve.

To remove debris trapped in the sand, the water flow is reversed to lift the impurities and flush them into the drain; this process is known as backwashing.
